A Note from Mr. Purlee Print E-mail
July  29, 2014

Dear Redding Families:

Welcome back to another great year at Redding Elementary School.  I can feel the excitement building with teachers preparing their rooms and new students coming in with their families to register.

We have a few changes at Redding that I want to inform you about as our year gets underway.  First, I would like to introduce our new Assistant to the Principal, Lori Lister. She will be here all day this year, beginning in September. We would also like to welcome new staff: Patti Terrell- Secretary, Darra Moore- Librarian,  Amanda Easton- Preschool Teacher, Anna Hochstedler- 1st Grade Teacher,  and Instructional Assistants- Ashley Wehmiller, Michelle Hattabaugh, Jade Benner, Sara Blubaugh, Julie Day and Michelle Loebker.

A reminder about SAFETY.  Our morning drop-off  is key to making sure we start the year off with the best procedures in place. As always,  the safety of your children is the number one priority at Redding Elementary school.  Our morning drop off time this year is 8:15-8:30 at Door #4.  At this time an adult will be helping children out of the car and into the building. Please stay in one line and do not pass other cars.  Also, if possible, plan to have your children exit/enter the car on the passenger side only.  From 8:30-8:45 students may be dropped off at the main entrance, Door #2.  We will continue with the policy that adults will not be allowed to walk students to their classrooms in the morning.  Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their children any day, but must sign in at the office.

Afternoon car rider pick-up remains the same as last year.  We have two pick up lines that are divided by students' last names.   A-I are up front at door 4, and J-Z are picked up by door 5, which is near the playground.  Lines may be long at the beginning,  but as we get numbers to all the students that are being picked up, the process should only take about 10-15 minutes each day.  Please remember, you must have the school-issued yellow tag to pick your child up in the car-rider line, and you must stay in line with the other cars.  If you need an alternative pick up to the bus or car-rider line, please stop in the office to pick up your child.

Finally, a “LITTLE” change for our school this year is our preschool. The preschool will be housed in the room that was formerly occupied by Kids Klub Child Care.   We will distribute more information about pick up to the parents of preschool students at a later date.   Kids Klub Students will need to be dropped off on the south side of the building, using the 16th Street parking lot.  Parents must walk students to Door 8 to sign students in and out each day.

We are excited about the opportunities this year! We hope to see you at our Family Events this year. Our first event, Community Fair,  is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16th, 2014, 5:30-7:30.

Looking forward to another GREAT year!
