Welcome to our Classroom!
Don't forget that there is a link at the bottom of the webpage to this weeks New2You Newspaper for you to read at home with your child.
Also, every Monday we will send home the News2You worksheets that we don't get to that week. You can do those papers at home with your child for extra practice if you are looking for homework.
Don't forget to watch the weather! Don't forget to sign up on the corporation website for text alerts to keep up to date on school closings and delays.
Please check out the Redding page on Facebook. It's a great resource for what's going on as well.

This week: December 10-14
Language Arts: The letter of the week is lower case q. We will continue working on starting sentences with a capital and ending with a period or question mark. We continue to work on answering comprehension questions and reading sight words. We will be working on holiday themed words until Christmas: Christmas, December, Santa, reindeer, snow, snowman, present, cookie, angel and bell.
Math: The number of the week is 20. We are practicing counting by 5s. The shape of the week is pentagon. The monetary unit of the week is a dollar. As always, we are working on graphing. Imbedded within graphing we work on tally marks, counting by ones, greater than less than, most/least and equal. Students in grades 4 and up are working on calculator skills. Everyone is working on "dollar up" math strategy.
Please continue to work on time span at home. We do it on the hour. I give students a scenario such as "I went to Walmart at 3:00. I shopped for 2 hours. What time did I get home?" We use an oversized clock and make the short hand jump two times to get the answer. You could also use a number line to make two jumps.
We are still working on counting grids, groups of 100s, 10s and ones. How many is a group of 100, 2 groups of 10s and 3 ones?
Science: We will have a cookie tasting, then make a graph based on which cookie we liked best.
Social Studies: We continue to work on identifying the city, state, country and capital city. This week in our News2You the theme is Christmas Cookies. We will be learning what a baker does and what it is like to work at a bakery.
Life Skills: The cooking this week is Christmas Cut Out Cookies. The craft this week is painting using cookie cutters.
